Memorial Day Weekend

It's a rare occasion that we have a long weekend without obligations. So we took advantage of the situation and headed to Grandma & Grandpa's house for the weekend. This is a place that we love visiting. The kids have so much fun playing outside, and helping with the chores at the farm. Our weekend went as follows:

Friday Evening Arrival. Our first activity after unpacking the truck was to clean and decorate Lucy's Headstone. We love visiting the cemetery. It is such a beautiful and peaceful place.

It was very emotional driving into the cemetery. The flags that lined the street made me remember how blessed I am to live in a free country. I also thought of the men and women fighting for our freedom. I especially remember my brother who spent time in Iraq, and what a great example he is to me and my family. I am grateful for his sacrifice and willingness to serve our country.

What a Stud!!

Our next stop was playtime at the city park. The kids needed to burn off some energy after being stuck in the truck most of the day, so we grabbed our sweatshirts, and headed off for some fun. The kids ran, and played, and helped Jeremy find coins with his metal detector. This is something he enjoys doing, and the kids were such a big help, and more than eager to dig in the dirt to find a treasure.

Saturday and Sunday was spent riding the four-wheelers at Grandpa's farm, and going on a buggy ride in Grandpa's new buggy.

The kids were thrilled that we let them DRIVE the four-wheelers. They were given strict rules. #1. They had to wear a helmet.
#2. They were not allowed to go past 10MPH.
They drove around Grandpa's farm, and were in heaven.

Monday morning we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather, and loaded up all of the kids, and went on a hike. Everyone had a great time, and the scenery was beautiful. I grew up near Red Canyon and Bryce Canyon, and it is so fun taking my kids there to enjoy this beautiful country.

After a long day of hiking, we unfortunately had to pack up and head back home. I am so grateful that we were able to have a nice weekend away, and spend time with my family.
