'STOMP OUT CANCER' team.

My amazing aunt and her fabulous daughters have been part of a team that's doing a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society called the Relay for Life. What happens is they get a team together and raise money and then in June they have a walk at the park. It starts at 5 and it goes all night till 9 in the morning. They light the track with luminaries and they walk. My cousin said that they even do a survivor lap. She said that it is really amazing, and something that everyone should experience and participate in. I can just imagine how special it would be to be surrounded by people who have fought and who are continuing to fight a battle with cancer. My heart goes out to such an important organization.

I am sure that you know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. If you don't, I imagine you will sometime in your life. My 9 year old son Austin was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor when he was 14 months old. Austin fought his battle, and after 8 years is cancer free. (Austins colors are Forest green and Lavender) Austin was lucky, but others are not as fortunate as he is. My Grandma lost her battle with breast cancer last year.

If anyone knows of a Relay for Life team in Nevada, please let me know. I would love to join, and would encourage anyone reading this blog to also join (wherever you live). We can all walk, and donate a little bit of money to the cause. And if anyone wants a bracelet, I'm sure I can get you one from my aunt & cousins. Leave me a comment, and I can find out how much they are. It's important that we work together to "STOMP OUT CANCER." (I love their team name) :)

I looked online and found a couple of events coming up in Henderson and Boulder City. There were also 6 other events in the next few months in different areas of the valley. Here is the link: http://www.relayforlife.org/relay/findevent

Just go to this page and then type in Henderson for the search and you'll see the events.

The one in Henderson starts at the Henderson International School and goes from noon on April 25th to 6 a.m. the next day.

The one in Boulder City is at Boulder City High School and goes from 6 p.m. on May 15th to 6 a.m. the next day.

Sounds like a great organization. Let me know if you sign up and I'll see if I chip in a few bucks. Maybe in a few months I could even join in the walking, but I don't think Skye would approve of my absence for that long quite yet. :)

That's a nice bracelet with great meaning and for a wonderful cause! We have lost many (my side) family members due to cancer, including my Mother.

**Looks like we chose the same background again:), great minds think alike!**

Shalayne, I would love to have one of these beautiful bracelets. My mom had breast cancer about 7 years ago, but now it has come back in her bones. It is a terrible disease. Let me know how much these bracelets are!
