Every spring the 3rd thru 5th grade students at Walker Elementary endure a week full of testing. The State wants to see how much the kids have learned in Reading and Math. I am so proud to say that Austin received a perfect score of 500 on the CRT in Math.
I was quite surprised when I received his score in the mail and saw how well he had done. He is a very smart boy, but this year he has not applied himself with his school work. Up until 4th grade, he had always been on the honor roll, but not this year. I think he is at that age where other things are more important (like video games, and Pokemon cards) than turning in your homework and school assignments. Don't get me wrong, it's not like he was failing, he was just sort of sliding by.
He was very excited when the school invited us to attend a breakfast in honor of the students who received a perfect score. All together there were 23 students who accomplished this goal either in reading or math. There was even one third grader that received a perfect score in both subjects. She received a very large trophy, which Austin was in awe of. Hopefully he will remember that when it comes time to taking the test next year.
Congratulations Austin!! We are so proud of you!
